For a brand with a reputation for affordable cars, the Honda NSX is an outlier. When compared to its direct rivals, the Honda NSX prices are more. The price difference is mind-boggling; why is this so? The plan was to do something unusual— create a supercar that could rival the European carmakers.
For a long time, the public thought this was not possible. No one thought Honda could create a car to rival Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini, and the other makers of fast cars. Honda was designed to bring out the big guns right from the design stage. Pininfarina , the famous design studio that created some of the best Ferrari, was picked to design the NSX.
Honda also co-opted legendary Formula 1 driver Aryton Senna to develop the engine with them. The result was an elegant design, with a superior machine and light bodyweight. The first-generation NSX lasted from to In , NSX had a new version to the first generation. There was a change in the engine 3. The first fifteen years saw a total of eighteen thousand, six hundred and eight-five units of the NSX sold.
There was a hiatus in production until , when the Honda NSX made a second-generation model. This newer model is a two-seater like its predecessor, but unlike the first generation, the new NSX is an all-wheel drive.

This reality also leads to an increase in the price because with so many technological and safety features,s it is only logical for a price increase. It also incorporates beauty and control with power. From the early days in the Pininfarina, NSX has strived and succeeded in aesthetic beauty. While Sport mode is a full-on hybrid setup, alternating between petrol and electric propulsion as would a Toyota Prius, though, fuel economy is actually rather disappointing.
In Track mode, traction control is removed, and the car is ready to trigger its launch control system for optimal acceleration. In its most violent calibration, the NSX simply squats down, waits for a half-second to figure out the best possible launch, and catapults into the distance in an efficient almost robotic manner. Accelerations are brutal, shifts are lightning quick, and because the electric motors apply what Acura calls torque-fill, acceleration remains constant, even during gear changes.
Meanwhile, that V6 engine screams and yelps behind your head. But where the NSX truly impressed me, was in its ability to remain analog even with all the fancy wizardry going on underneath my butt.
Enter a corner hard, and the entire car grabs onto the tarmac to provide rotation. Immediately, you feel the all-wheel-drive system pulling you out of that apex in surgical precision. I guess the obvious question at this point is the following: does the second-generation Acura NSX live up to its predecessor?
The immediate answer would be that it would be impossible to duplicate the straight-forward, lightweight and mechanical conception of the original car. So, is the Acura NSX worth your dollar? Why on Earth would anyone pay this kind of money for an Acura when Audi and Porsche are sitting not far away with similar performance, more prestige, and better thought-out infotainment systems?
